Do’s and Don’ts of SEO

SEO can be a tricky thing to master. So many things go into it, and if you’re not careful, you can easily make mistakes that will hurt your rankings. But there are many SEO primer articles that will give you an idea of what SEO is. And in this blog post, we will discuss some of SEO’s do’s and don’ts. We will also provide some tips on how to improve your SEO strategy. Let’s get started.

Don’t Put All of Your Keywords on One Page

workingKeyword stuffing was a common SEO tactic years ago, but it doesn’t work anymore. In fact, it can hurt your SEO because search engines will view it as spam. Instead of cramming all of your keywords onto one page, spread them across multiple pages on your website. This will help you rank for more keywords and help you avoid getting penalized by search engines.

Do Incorporate Keywords That Are Relevant to the Page

Your keywords should be included in your title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, and throughout the body of your content. They should be included in a way that is both natural and relevant to the topic.

Don’t Engage in Keyword Stuffing or Unnatural Phrasing

Just because a certain word or phrase is popular doesn’t mean that you should try to force it into your content as much as possible. Not only will this make your content sound unnatural, but it will also likely get you penalized by Google. A good rule of thumb is to use a keyword or phrase only when it makes sense – any more than that, and you’re probably keyword stuffing.

Do Make Your Metadata Description Representative of the Page Content

Your metadata description appears below your title tag on the search engine results page (SERP). It should give searchers a good idea of what they will find on your page. Keep your metadata descriptions between 50-160 characters, and include relevant keywords for the page content.

Don’t Ignore Negative Reviews

It’s easy to get wrapped up in always trying to put your best foot forward, but it’s important to remember that negative reviews are a part of doing business. The key is not to ignore them but to address them head-on. Respond to each one professionally and courteously, and show that you’re actively working to resolve any issues that have been raised. This will go a long way in showing that you care about your customers and are committed to providing them with a positive experience.

Do Have Other Websites Linking to Yours

tableOne of the most important ranking factors for any website is the number of other websites linking to it. Search engines view links as “votes” for a website. The more votes, the more popular it is and the higher it will rank in the search results. To get other websites to link to yours, you can write guest blog posts, create helpful resources, or offer discounts and coupons. SEO is a complex and ever-changing field.

What works today may not work tomorrow, so it’s important to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and changes in the industry. That being said, some general do’s and don’ts of SEO still hold, no matter what year. Consider these when creating or updating your website content; you should see improved search engine rankings in no time.…
